Best wedding venues in South Wales
With such a vibrant wedding scene around Cardiff, and so many great quality wedding venues around South Wales, it’s super difficult to choose a venue that feels personable, unique and truly yours.
Having been fortunate to photograph at dozens of the top venues in the region, the venues I have chosen deliver tremendous value, great service to you and your guests, and you guessed it - make for great photos.
From stately country homes, to castles, barns and spa resort hotels, South Wales has some of the finest venues in the country, and competes with the Cotswolds for quality and quantity.
Firstly, I’ll start off with the ‘M4 Four’. These are four venues that minutes away from the motorway corridor, providing easy access for your guests. This also makes seeing all four venues in one day a piece of cake!
De Courceys Manor
If you’re a foodie, this is the place for you. Rated number one on TripAdvisor and home to the best Sunday lunch in Cardiff, DeCourceys Manor will leave you and your guests feeling rather full!
Top class service from the team here ensure your day runs smoothly, and newly built onsite accommodation is a great addition - ideal if your bridal party need somewhere to stay the night before.
I always feel very welcome when I shoot here, as the staff are so friendly towards vendors, and it’s a real joy to photograph De Courceys Manor. Big thumbs up for this place.
It’s no wonder that Pencoed House won Welsh Wedding Venue of the year 2019, as the idyllic grounds, rustic Old Hall and top notch onsite accommodation make this a great choice of venue.
Jamie and Darren on the staff team work absolute wonders to make sure everything is on time and are a pleasure to work with. You’ll have a choice of caterers too, which is very handy to choose exactly what you want.
As for photos, the lawn is the perfect backdrop for group photos and evening shenanigans - check out Emma & Dion’s Rugby match below!
Canada Lodge & Lake
I love that Canada Lodge is two stories - upstairs, you have your ceremony as you overlook the lake, and then make your way out onto the lawns and terrace for a canapé and glass of bubbly.
In the afternoon, you’ll head downstairs for your wedding breakfast, and meanwhile, upstairs is being set up ready for the evening doo and first dance.
If you want a streamlined day amongst beautiful settings, this is it. You’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re in Wales here, as you could just as easily be in Canada. Must be why they named it just that…
If you’re after a traditional Grade II listed country house, with plenty of room for up to 200 guests, this is it. Miskin Manor oozes historic charm, and is a beautiful backdrop for photos.
There’s a choice of rooms for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, allowing for plenty of customisation and letting you really make Miskin your own.
As there’s so many rooms on-site, you can comfortably invite lots of evening guests and be in comfort knowing you can all party the evening away.
